Foundations in Math Course Description 

 

 

The Foundations in Math course will cover the following topics:

 

  • Statistics

  • Fractions

  • Logical Reasoning

  • Measurements

  • Geometry

  • Ratios and Rates

  • Percents

  • Area, Volume, and the Pythagorean Theorem

  • Introduction to Algebra

 

Grading will be based upon projects, in-class assignments, tests, and some homework. Some projects will count for the equivalent of a quiz grade and others for the equivalent of a test grade. Late assignments will not be accepted except in the case of an excused absence.

 

All students will be responsible for having the following materials for each class:

 

  • Notebook or Binder

  • Writing Utensil

  • Workbook

  • Paper

 

It is the students’ responsibility to use class time well, as time is always provided to work on assignments, and I am available for help during the class period. If extra help is needed outside of class, plan to see me during Enrichment period. Otherwise, please make an appointment to see me immediately after school. Students are expected to keep all class notes. Do not throw anything away!! Keep ALL of your papers!!

 

Make-Up Work:

A student should contact Ms. Gray if he/she misses or plans to miss class. The policy in the Student Handbook will be followed. It is the student’s responsibility to inquire about and complete any missing work.

Quizzes will be announced and unannounced.

 

 Tests
