Current Events Report Guidelines

Finding Articles: You can use local newspapers (Messenger, Free Press, etc.) or online sites:

Science Daily - Articles on Earth & Climate from around the world on many topics.

Burlington Free Press - Articles on Earth, and also has articles specific to Vermont.

St. Albans Messenger - Articles specific to Vermont, and to City of St. Albans.

Please select an article that is at least a page so you have plenty of information to use in your report.  The article also needs to be as current as possible, so try to get something in the last couple weeks of news.  Please note that you need to give me the source of where the article came from in your report.

Report: At least one single-spaced written or typed page with the following parts:

Title (1 point): Come up with your own title that fully describes the event/topic.

Summary (4 points): Discuss who is involved, when and where it occurred, what happened in detail, and why it is important.

The summary should be in your own words, but should use facts from the original article.  No credit for copying original article.

Reflection (4 points): Your feelings and insights about the event.  Why is it good or bad, and what impacts will the event have on people's lives?

Source (1 point): List the name of the original article, the newspaper or online source, and the date it was published.
