Welcome to U.S. History 234
I. Overview
United States History is a required course for juniors. Students analyze America from a cultural, political, economic, military, domestic, and foreign point of view to the 21st Century. A variety of learning strategies will be used throughout the course including discussions, multi-media, simulations, research, term projects, and outside readings.
II. Course Outline
Semester One:
- Unit 1: The Civil War
- Unit 2: American Reconstruction
- Unit 3: Gilded Age to Progressive Reform
- Unit 4: American Imperialism
- Unit 5: World War I
Semester Two:
- Unit 6: The Roaring 20's
- Unit 7: The Great Depression
- Unit 8: World War II
- Unit 9: The Cold War
- Unit 10: Vietnam and the Civil Rights Movement
III. Materials
- The Americans Textbook;
- Various supplemental materials given out by the teacher;
- 3-ring binder, loose-leaf paper, and dividers;
- Writing utensils.

*Please note, certain assignments may be weighted to count as double a regular assignment
All late work (unless the student has an excused absence) will be assessed a 10% penalty for each day that it is late, up to three days. After three days, the highest score a student can receive is the equivalent of a 50%
Those students who were not in class due to an excused absents will be given any work missed upon his/her return to class. The student will have until the next class to pass in the work without penalty.
