Sponsor a Seat Campaign!

As you have probably heard, the BFA auditorium is being completely renovated. High on our priority are new seats. The seats presently in the auditorium are the original seats dating back to the 1930’s. If you have sat in them lately, you know how uncomfortable they are. Many are broken and can not be fixed. However, the end plates are being restored and will remain as part of the update. Therefore, we, Helene Biggie, Michele Ovitt and Ellen Gissel are chairing the Sponsor a Seat Campaign!

Your donation will be recognized on a wall plaque with your name or name of your choice and will be displayed in the hallway outside the auditorium. Your name will also appear on the patron page of all programs distributed at events being held in the auditorium.

Auditorium Renovation Project

Ned Caron

BFA Principal Mr. Ned Caron addresses the steering committee at a steering committee meeting on November 30, 2009 in the BFA Auditorium.

In my first article to the BFA Mercury (school newspaper)  this year, I announced BFA plans to begin the work of restoring and renovating our auditorium. This is an important project that deserves our complete support for our students, faculty and our community. BFA has formed a Steering Committee to oversee the project that includes representatives from our community, faculty and student body, and will be co-chaired by Reg Godin and myself.

The Steering Committee has held one organizational meeting (October 7, 2009) and looked at the overall plan of restoring the auditorium in a four phase process that would extend over several years. Since that initial meeting,

BFA has put in place the resources needed to move forward.

The Steering Committee will be guided by Laz Scangas, architect of Arnold and Scangas architects. We will be further assisted by Mike Connor, of Connor Contracting, Inc. who will be employed as our Construction Manager. Working together, we will develop an architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawing that will lead to the development of specifications and cost estimates for the project.

Once we have this information, the Steering Committee will hold the first of two special forums to review with the community our plans, process and cost estimates of the project. We are looking for community feedback on the project as well as support to ensure the renovations/restoration process will result in the creation of the very best auditorium in our region.
